Rainy Day in Shiller

It’s been wonderfully rainy the last few days. Everywhere you look, greenery is bursting out of the ground. The guinea fowl are literally having field days.

This field was bare until a few days ago, now it has a green blanket of sprouting grain. I think it is wheat for cow fodder, that’s what it was last year anyway. The guineas travel through the field, picking at stuff as they go. I’m not sure if they are eating seeds or bugs – I hope the latter! The male in the lower right corner is watching for danger while the rest of the group searches the ground. They also had a lookout stationed in a tree. They constantly call to each other – they’re never quiet.

The rabbit babies are old enough now to come out of their nest and start nibbling on hay. They aren’t venturing out as much as they would in warmer weather – they like staying all squashed up together in their nest box. Even though they are too big to fit now!

These two are gorgeous. I think this colour is called Chinchilla – and they really do look a bit like chinchillas!

I love this “dirty white” one too. Here he is sneaking a drink of milk from mummy 🙂

Hoping you’re all having a nice, wintry day! ❄

  4. Heh … “wintry”. You’re funny! We just got 10 cm of snow in three hours, just in time for the evening rush hour last night. Took me 2 hrs, 45 min. to drive 12.2 km!!! THAT’S wintry. 😉 (And we’re supposed to get even more tonight.) I may not have adorable bunnies to console me but I’ve got two pretty adorable foster kittens.

LOL Yes I forget what “wintry” is really like! Although I’ve never seen that much snow ever!! That sounds beautiful but kind of… Cold! And difficult to navigate. Yes your foster kittens really are adorable! X
