Walter and Jesse

Time for a peachick update. Say hi to Walter and Jesse! They are almost a week old now and incredibly cute. They grow really fast and are starting to fly out of their brooder box now. I am going to have to move them to a cage in the pet zoo, because it is not a good idea to have them freeranging in our bathroom or in the house, no matter how much fun it would be… Cats are everywhere!

They have real little personalities and seem to see me as the “top bird” who hands out the food. They love boiled egg. They investigate everything with outstretched necks and peck at random stuff, like cameras. They jump up and flap with their little wings. They decided to sit on my shoulder, which was infinitely adorable.

I am getting really attached to them! Which is dangerous… I am now terrified that they won’t have resistance to germs in the ground of our pet zoo. I’m going to be ready with wormer, antibiotics and whatever is necessary to keep them alive and well.

It’s too early to see if they are males or females, but of course we’re speculating loads. For now, Walter is a little peacock and Jesse a little peahen. But it’s totally random πŸ™‚ We will have to wait and see!

  3. How cute are these guys?! I love that they are sitting on your shoulder – they’re like little (soon to be big) parrots!
