This post is in response to Katzenworld‘s post Tummy Rub Tuesday! Also, I just wanted to proudly show off our current house cats 🙂 They are not very keen on tummy rubs though, so not all pictures are of cats lying on their backs. But they are all cute. Meet Shandy, Kali and Keshet!
This is Shandy. Our oldest son, Nadin, is obsessed with cats. He started begging for a cat when our last dog died and his baby brother didn’t really live up to his expectations as a playmate. We went looking around a cat rescue place and there was Shandy, a tiny little lost orange kitten. It was instant love for Nadin. We took Shandy home and he grew up to be a big, grumpy orange tom. After 7 years, Nadin still loves him the best, even though has been accessorised by many scratches through the years.
I found Kali a year or two ago, searching through the garbage bins near our house. She was obviously a stray, not a feral cat, because she came to me meowing and followed me home. She was so thin that I could count her ribs through her fur, and she had half-healed wounds on her legs. After a few weeks of good food and a home of her own, she started looking pretty, fluffy and fit. Her time on the streets left Kali with an extreme fondness for food and we have to restrict her feeding, so she doesn’t get too fat.
Keshet, our latest addition, is secretly my favourite. She is sweet, cuddly and cute. She likes to play with water. Not to mention, she has wacky markings all over her body. There is spot on her side which looks exactly like a rubber bath duck. But the moustache is of course the most noticeable, and caused my friend Danya to nickname her Hitler. You’d be hard put to find a creature less like Hitler, though! ❤
